Deadliest Catch: Bloodline was supposed to be the next entry in the wildly popular Deadliest Catch reality TV franchise, but now it’s nowhere to be found, and there’s a pretty upsetting reason why. Deadliest Catch has had three spinoff series since it premiered in 2005: Dungeon Cove, The Viking Returns, and Bloodline. Bloodline premiered in April 2020 and lasted for three seasons. The show follows Josh Harris and Casey McManus, captains of one of the most popular boats on Deadliest Catch, the F/V Cornelia Marie.

Phil Harris’ death on Deadliest Catch was one of the most memorable and tragic moments in the series, and when he died, the boat passed to his son, Josh. Bloodline depicts this relationship with Josh and Casey finding old fishing notes Phil left behind that lead the pair to go hunting for tuna in Hawaii and learn more about the time Phil spent fishing there. The series had a much different feel from the main show and was more of an adventure series that felt slightly scripted. But it was still popular, and a surprise when it was suddenly canceled.

In September 2022, Discovery told Radar that Josh Harris would no longer be a part of Deadliest Catch because of past allegations and criminal charges that had recently come to light regarding the fishing captain. The F/V Cornelia Marie suddenly disappeared from Deadliest Catch, Harris’ contract was not renewed, and Bloodline was canceled, all for the same reason: Discovery uncovered that Harris had gone to prison for nine months in 1999 after being convicted of sexually assaulting a minor in 1998.

Though no one from Discovery ever officially announced Bloodline ‘s cancelation, the show was never renewed for season 4..

According to the court documents, Harris was accused of sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl when he was 15 or 16. The case did not move forward until 1999 because of delays in DNA processing. Harris pleaded to a lesser charge which led to him receiving a guilty verdict of assault 4 and immoral communication with a minor for which he served nine months in prison. Harris also had to undergo a psychosexual exam as part of his sentence. Though no one from Discovery officially announced Bloodline’s cancelation, the show was never renewed for season 4.

Discovery+ Completely Scrubbed Deadliest Catch: Bloodline From Its Platform

Not only was Deadliest Catch: Bloodline not renewed, but it seems to have been scrubbed from every streaming platform. It appears that the removal of any Bloodline episodes happened quickly. A Reddit thread from 2022 already had people confused about why they could no longer find the show on any streaming services. Discovery has been very quiet about removing Bloodline from the internet, and it may be that they do not want to draw any attention to the complicated story.

Frankly, though, there are not too many people searching for Deadliest Catch: Bloodline in the first place, with many fans considering it an inferior version of Deadliest Catch. All the Deadliest Catch episodes are still available to watch on several platforms, including Hulu and Max. The other spinoffs, Dungeon Cove and The Viking Returns, are also available to stream on Discovery GO and Max respectively. Viewers who want more fishing adventures don’t have to look far, even with Bloodline unavailable.
